Dunwoody Renovation

In January 2011, my wife and I decided to renovate our home. The project would include the kitchen, master bath, combining the living room and den into a great room, addition of a powder room, and reconfiguring the laundry room. We had given the project a lot of thought and knew we were going to have to endure a rather lengthy construction period

We began our search for a professional builder by asking friends for suggestions. We interviewed seven highly recommended builders and settled on three for further consideration. After checking references and visiting several completed projects of each of the builders, we decided on John Rogers. It was very apparent that John's reputation was solid. We found that John was not just a competent builder but was well respected as an individual.

Our project started in mid-February with a projected completion in June.

Throughout the renovation, John and his entire staff were professional, courteous, and respectful while working in our home. Each day started promptly at 8:00am and finished with a thorough cleanup of the day's work. I cannot remember a single instance of work not being done when expected.

John is a very organized and systematic businessman. Each Friday we received a written schedule on the work to be done the following week. Each Thursday we received an invoice for the work done the previous week. This continued without exception throughout the duration of the project. From a financial aspect, this made us very comfortable.

John's wife, Nicola, is a certified interior decorator and assisted my wife in the selection of cabinetry, countertops, light fixtures and other necessary items. Her direction and advice were very sensitive to capturing our "style" and the finished product works very well.

The remodel was completed in June as projected. Except for our decision to upgrade and to make several minor changes to the original plans, the project was completed on budget.

The finished renovation is everything we expected. We vaulted the ceiling in our kitchen. It now feels very inviting and is a great gathering place for entertaining. We took a portion of our laundry room and added a powder room. I never imagined having enough space to do this. John told us he could do it and it is perfect. We completely removed the wall between our traditional living room and den. A steel support beam was used to ensure the integrity of the structure. We now have a huge great room with a very nice updated fireplace. A wall was removed in our master bath to allow for a spacious marble floor and over-sized shower. The hardwood floors throughout tie it all together and it's beautiful. .....I've said "we" did this or that, but obviously, John and his crew did it. Because of John keeping us completely informed of all activity and making sure he was doing things the way we wanted, we always felt a part of the team.

The most amazing thing, as my brother said, "It doesn't look like a renovation, it's just a beautiful home."

We have just completed a total renovation on the main floor of our home in Dunwoody. We have lived in our home for twenty years. As a decorator, she was aware of what was current and up to date but also what we desired on a personal level that would create a home that we would fit our needs. She gave honest and relevant feedback and the outcome displays a combination of her gentle guidance and our own personal imput. We are so pleased with the final result aand love how the remodel fits on all levels — our lifestyle, entertaining, family, and at the same time, fits the existing home.

We were very satisfied with the whole experience of the remodel! John and Nicola, along with their entire staff, made it seem effortless. Their atttention to details, consideration to us personally, and their professionalism thoughout the project made referring their skills to someone else easy.
